Re-scheduled for Saturday, July 5! Join your PSO for Maine’s largest annual Independence Day celebration! This year’s Stars and Stripes Spectacular features a brilliant fireworks display, beautiful bay views, food vendors, and — of course — a stirring patriotic performance by the Portland Symphony Orchestra with special guests Suzanne Nance, the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums, and contest winner Kelsey Walker, who will sing the Star Spangled Banner!

This event is free and open to the public.

Before the Show

The Stars and Stripes Spectacular is Maine’s largest annual Independence Day celebration!

Your Portland Symphony, led by Music Director Robert Moody, will play a program of patriotic marches in tandem with a fabulous fireworks show. Over 50,000 people are expected to attend this outdoor event, held on Portland’s Eastern Prom. The free concert begins at 7:40pm, but many people gather earlier in the day to picnic, play on the lawn, visit the vendors or just enjoy the beauty of a perfect Maine summer day. For more details visit july4thportland.org.

Rain date: July 5.

VIP tickets, with reserved parking, transportation to the Eastern Prom, and reserved table seating near the concert stage, are available here.

This year marks the 200 anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner. To help celebrate this milestone 94.9 WHOM sponsored an online and on air singing contest. The winner, Kelsey Walker, a seventh grader from Barrington NH, will sing the National Anthem as part of the “Stars & Stripes Spectacular” with the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
