Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto

  • Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7:30 PM
    Merrill Auditorium

John Adams’ opera Doctor Atomic depicts the days and hours before the first explosion of an atomic bomb; his Symphony brings us a glimpse of the opera’s harrowing music. Copland’s The Tender Land is about the depression-era midwest, but its music is full of love, dance, and the promise of life. Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto went from “unplayable” to beloved in less than a generation; violinist Jennifer Koh explores its endless lyricism.

This concert will last approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, and will be performed with one intermission.
