Describe a typical day.
Hike up and around Bradbury Mountain State Park, in summer kayaking, Working in my shop making bows, having a play on my bass. An exceptional day is when I play a bow that I’ve made for the first time…

What is your favorite PSO memory to date?
On many levels the special return concert with Paul Vermel, Bruce Hangen, and Toshi Shimada

How did you get started in music?
2nd Grade Warwick, New York public school, private lessons, and band. I played the trumpet. I am fortunate that there were strong music programs in the Public Schools back then.

What is the most frequently asked question when you tell someone that you play for the PSO?
What do you play? How long?

If you couldn’t be a musician, what would be your dream job?
I’m living the dream!

What is your favorite music? What are you currently listening to?
Jazz, Listening to Victor Wooten bassist

What are your hobbies?
Hiking in the Maine woods, kayaking in Casco Bay, skiing, bicycle riding

What or who has been your greatest influence in life?
My teachers, too many to list, but they are the ones who helped to make my career possible! Thanks to all of you.

What is your favorite thing about Maine?
Ocean, lakes and mountains

What/where are your favorite places to eat in Portland?
Too many to list, but one of my favorites is Mami on Fore Street or at their Food Truck, awesome Japanese street food. Also Pizza Villa Congress Street

What non-PSO musical activities do you participate in?  In addition to playing the bass, I make violin, viola, cello and double bass bows. George Rubino bows are used by many of the world’s finest players in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
