PORTLAND, Maine – Celebrated tribute artist Elvis Wade will join the Portland Symphony Orchestra (PSO) for “Elvis Lives!,” two performances guaranteed to thrill Elvis fans and music lovers alike on Saturday and Sunday April 9 and 10. Led by guest conductor Robert Franz, this PSO Pops! concert will fill Merrill Auditorium with the energetic, entertaining and ever-lasting sounds of Elvis’ greatest hits, including Return to Sender, Jailhouse Rock, I Can’t Help Falling in Love and many more.
Special offer for longtime Elvis fans: Elvis Presley was scheduled to perform at the Cumberland County Civic Center August 17 and 18, 1977 (literally the days after his untimely and tragic passing). Anyone who had tickets to those concerts and brings them to the PortTIX box office at least an hour prior to the performance will receive free tickets.
Elvis Wade’s performances are billed “as close to the real thing as you can get” and his tribute to the King of Rock n’ Roll is jam-packed with gyrations, song and fun. Born as Wade Cummings, Elvis Wade grew up in rural Tennessee and began entertaining as Elvis at the age of 9. Elvis Presley himself saw the show in 1976 and gave it a standing ovation.
Guest conductor Robert Franz is Music Director of the Boise Philharmonic and Associate Conductor of the Houston Symphony.
“Elvis Lives!” is sponsored by PowerPay.
Performances are Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, April 10 at 2:30 PM at Portland’s Merrill Auditorium.
Tickets range from $20-$65 and are available through PortTIX at (207) 842-0800 or www.porttix.com. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the box office at 20 Myrtle St., Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Phone and internet orders are subject to per-ticket handling fees.
